TRS Edition 25 - Glasgow, Artpop, Beards and Fashion

Hi folks, bit of a milestone for me today with this being the 25th TRS blog :). Hope you've enjoyed reading them and if this is your first, check out some of the older posts - some cool stuff along the way you may have missed!

And amazing news to celebrate! Wellington is keeping his hat for a while longer... only in Glasgow would there be an uproar at the news the council were trying to remove road cones. Pop culture prevails!

(enough said...)

Design/music... Lady Gaga - Artpop

This crazy mentalist's latest album has made it in to TRS for two reasons. Firstly, the Artpop cover is top notch. Very cool use of colours and love the Lady Gaga type. That's the brief design banter out the way... it also has a few heavy french-electronic sounding tracks on there. Always good.

Check out tracks G.U.Y. and Fashion...

(Giant balls between her legs... always knew it)

(Crackling tune...)

Face up to... The Beard

Using the guise of Movember (this confuses everyone as to what a 'moustache' actually is), I am beginning to cultivate a beard. There's not much to say, other than things may get a bit hairy when my gran sees it. This is an accurate artists impression...

(photoshop master)

Wearing... Lyle & Scott Vintage Polo

Classic polo with all over tartan print. It's pretty funky... I feel that now I am growing a beard I should probably wear costumes including numbers like this. Can see this under a leather jacket looking pretty damn funkadelic. £60 at ASOS if you fancy splashing out for the weekend.

(his face annoyed me...)

Finally... Pug Cushions

Get yourself a couple of wee pals for sofa dates. Available at tesco... they speak for themselves for under a tenner each.

(Why the long f-.... just doesn't work for pugs)

25 down... thanks for reading again guys!

Much love,

TRS Nov 2013 - Design, Fashion, Music

Designing... Drive-In Movies

A brand new outdoor movie experience in Scotland, itison Drive-In Movies set up a Halloween extravaganza to turn heads.

Ghostbusters, Michael Myers and hundreds of customers peeing their pants with fear in Victoria Park, Glasgow- fun times, and great to do the branding, visuals and print work for this event.

Wearing... Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars

For just £47 these are an awesome buy. Black leather with a white soul, and a tartan inner fabric for that wee Scottish twist. Loving them so far.

Listening to... Moderat - II

My favourite album for a good couple of months now is Moderat's II. The deep vibes carry throughout the entire album, and the surreal vocals and sounds can either send you to sleep or take you off to parts of your mind you forgot existed. Great to sit and design to...

(Probably my fave tune)

Introducing... Edition Scotland

Just discovered these guys. Top quality Scottish spun cashmere scarfs for what's already started out a bit of a chilly baltic winter! Might have to scrimp some pennies together or hope santa's good to me with the price tag, but manufactured in Scotland and nice geometric patterns... Stylodelic approved.

That's all til next time folks, in the mean time get in touch on Twitter and please share the blog :).

Much love.

Hadouken!, Bloc Party, more master baking, and Mick Foley

It's been a busy week and a few things to cram into TRS today, so let's dive in!

Mic Check

Front row and centre at one of my favourite bands last Friday at the Arches. It was a great gig. Even if the chick on the keyboards looked like she was sitting at her in-laws house waiting for the conversation about Janice down the road to finish. Played most of their top tunes, and the lasers were burning my eyeballs out. Nice one.

(Levitate - how I managed to take this whilst jumping non-stop, I'll never know)

What you should be listening to

Bloc Party. Never thought I'd say it, but they should be top of your playlist. Heard 'Truth' at the gym this morning and kept me going on the cross trainer (I hate that beast). Great melody and cracking video, check it out.

(Cool v-v-v-v-ideo)

Masterbaking continues

I'm not gonna lie, I love a good masterbake. An evening of pleasure was had making these bad boys, they look so good I bet you can almost taste them. Nom. Got the caramel slice recipe from a cracking android app called "Allthecooks". You should definitely check it out for all kinds of recipes, not just masterbaking - there's other apps for that...

(Heart burn in a slice. DO IT)

Mick Foley aka Mankind. Cactus Jack? Dude Love?! Fat bearded wrestler-guy??

If you still don't know who he is, I guess you never will. My geek side took over last night as I went to see a new stand-up show from Mick Foley. Was great to hear stories about the wrestling from when I used to watch it religiously. He did talk a lot about sex though, in fact, I think I learned more about Hulk Hogan's penis than anything else!

(PLEASE do an elbow drop from the stage!)

Well that's my week right there for ya. I'm off out for a steak at Ad Lib in Merchant City tonight. Get. In. My. Belly. Much love! x

Daft Punk and Pharrell, Tesco grub and converse at ASOS

I told you I would be back in Blogsville before you could throw an inflatable willy at a church elder. Here's the blog! :)

Daft Punk

They are back. Well, very soon they will be back. With Random Access Memories out on May 21st, we saw a brand new teaser trailer during SNL. Daft Punk, Pharrell and Nile Rodgers getting funky is something I could will watch on loop until the album comes out. AWESOME.

(...still watching on loop...)

Grab some grub

Hungry? Go to Tesco right? Bit of a bug when you find a real-life grub in your pistachios though right?! Disappointed not to find a small horse embryo or something... but this was comical none the less. I still have the evidence... what should I do with it?! Answers on a postcard - or on twitter with #tescogrub

(Tesco's own Angel Delight contains 3% GENUINE angel)

Converse for £11?

Just like finding creatures in your nuts (I'm aware of how that sounds and I'm comfortable with it), you can find some random treasures in the ASOS sale. Check out this funky Converse iPhone cover. It's half price at £10, and there's much more where that came from.

(Please DO attempt to wear your phone case as a shoe)

That's all for this week folks. I'm off to see the awesome Hadouken! at the Arches in Glasgow this Friday with @StephenALOL - drop us a line if you're heading along too. Pics to come in the next blog. ADIOS!

New music, fashion, pop art and Amsterdam competition!

It has been some time since the last TRS blog, I can only apologise, and blame it on being here there and everywhere over the past month! As I started lunges at the gym yesterday, I think I will be sitting for the next few days, so there's plenty of time for blogs :D. Enjoy!

What you should be wearing

Kate Moss posed for Bryan Ferry's "Olympia" album cover. Why? Because he's the man. Now you can be the man too for £8 at Primark. Don't be a jealous guy, buy it now...

(Bask in your new found musical knowledge)

What you should be listening to

CHVRCHES. I'm guessing that's pronounced like Churches, if not, I'm lost. There music is outstanding. It wouldn't be out of place on the Drive soundtrack, but has a kick and purpose behind it as well as some sweet electro-sounding harmonies. Here's the recover EP - check it out!

(Track 3. Do it)

Stylodelic pop art

I've been busy creating some new fashion/pop prints over the last few weeks. Printed on tees or hanging on your living room wall, keep your eyes peeled for more of these on Stylodelic's facebook page.

(Geometric pop art babe)

AMSTERGANG!

So it's went from "igloo-building contest" to "69 shades of grey" outside. And in no way is that depressing...

Good news. One of TRS' favourite tee companies is running a comp for tickets to stoner-central Amsterdam for you and 5 of your mates? Love it. Even if it's raining - you won't be able to feel your face anyway :D. It's not just the holiday, you'll get your hands on Ringspun gear too. Sweet.

(If you win - please take me...)

And finally... where have you been, boy?!

Top of the list was my bro's (@angryandroid83) birthday celebrations. A surprise go-karting Grand Prix was probably my highlight of the year so far! Well, it was almost a surprise, @morjaz6364 not spoiled 2-months of my secret planning THE NIGHT BEFORE... yes, he is till hearing about it.

(Karting hoodlum-style)

I've said it before but I'll say it again. Bigger and better blogs to come more often from now on. Thanks again for reading. Til next time!

Foals, girls on tees and master baking

TRS returns! With a jam packed start to the new year, it's taken longer than expected to get this blog down, but here it is. Enjoy! :)

"Where have you been?" I hear you gasp...

For most of January I was masterbaking. Yes, you heard... baking to an extremely tasty level. It was my first 'new thing' of 2013 and after producing some top notch sponges, I'm pretty much hooked! Fortunately my new thing for February has been joining the gym, so it has saved my belly from ballooning! This fitness lark is also quite addictive... who knew?!

(80's cheesecake montage! Courtesy of @StephenALOL)

Get this tee

Are you shy and retiring? Can you not look yourself in the mirror?

With this Ringspun tee from SecretSales.com, you won't be able to stop looking at yourself in the mirrored wardrobe! And for just £10 (65% off).

Everyone likes printed tees and topless women, right? No?

Get this music

Foals. Holy Fire. Brilliant album. I was lost in a musical abyss after the disaster that was Delphic's follow up album, and this well and truly got me through the anguish. The return of guitar music to the mainstream?

(Emili Sande, we are coming to axe you down)

Til next time!

All things new for 2013. Tunes, threads and resolutions

It's me, I'm here! After a hectic christmas and NY, TRS is back. I fell into a food coma when last trying to blog in December so thought I'd save it for 2013. Time for all things new...

New tunes - Matrix & Futurebound

2012 is over, and hopefully we see the quick and painless death of Emili Sande's music career. It's time for something fresh, and here's a top quality track that I discovered over the weekend. Drum and bass but with a fresh sound for the new year...

(Kick-ass chorus)

New threads - Blue, Yellow, White.

I went a bit mental with the christmas shopping in November/December, so the thought of shopping for new clothes in Jan in a bit of a killer... cue saviour!

The sales stuff is horrible on the high street, but never fear. For just £90 you can kit yourself out with ASOS Look of the Week. The shirt won't be to everyone's taste but I actually quite like it. Blue, white and yellow are the colours of 2013, so you'll be bang on trend and you might just have some pennies left to wear it out to the pub before payday.

(I hope there's two people in the pub
wearing exactly this at the same time...)

New skills - masterbaking

Some of you will know about my NY resolution. For the past 2 years it has been to try 12 new things a year. So within about an hour on Thursday night, I'd considered the idea of baking, bought the equipment and ingredients, and baked a cappuccino cake of all things. One down, eleven to go.

Tweet me your NY resolutions @StylodelicDave with hashtag #trs.

(Tasted amazeballs... I'm going to end up a podgemeister)

Same old ...

Unfortunately people are still retards. All we can do is laugh...

Til next time. Please follow me on Twitter :).
